Focus on Breast Augmentation Part 5: Implant Size
Before we talk about one of the main breast implant choices that patients ask about — Saline or Silicone Implants — we will discuss another very popular question, that of size of implant.
Breast Implant Sizing – Choosing Your Implant Size with Inland Empire Cosmetic Surgeon Dr. Farzaneh
There are a couple of things to consider when it comes to breast implant size:
1. Your desired size.
2. For extremely large implants, any possible physical limitations or health concerns that could be brought about by achieving this size.
The best first step to take is to figure out what size you are comfortable with and what you desire!
It is possible to try out expensive breast implant sizing systems, but you can actually get very satisfactory results without having to take this step by doing a little “do it yourself” approach involving rice, panty hose, a measuring cup and a bra or swimsuit top!
We actually created a handy video in our office to show you a way to simulate implant sizing at home so that you can have a better idea of what size implant you may want to discuss in a consultation. Here are the steps to making your own implant sizers at home, followed by the video.
Step 1: Measure rice, and be as exact as possible. 1 Cup = 250cc, 1/2 Cup = 125cc, 1/4 Cup = 75cc.
Step 2: Cut pantyhose leg, stretch foot and place over measuring cup.
Step 3: Empty dry rice into pantyhose, pressing rice down into the foot.
Step 4: Tie pantyhose off above the rice, mark the number of ounces on the hose, and cut off excess hose.
Step 5: Place into bra, swimsuit, etc., and most importantly — have fun!
