Cosmetic GYN Procedures
For years women have quietly suffered from numerous sexual problems that could be remedied by surgery or other elective procedures and medicaments, much of which were unknown to general OBGYNs. Whether the recent rise in interest for intimate rejuvenation is an effect of the sexual revolution of the 1960’s or greater access to pornography, the seriousness of abnormal female sexual dysfunction is NEVER diminished. Dr. Wu has been a strong advocate for women taking control of their sexual life and working with women (and even their partners) on an individualized basis to reconstruct, enhance or improve sexual function and genital appearance. Dr. Wu is a board certified OBGYN that has completed formal fellowship training in Infertility and Cosmetic Surgery. He has trained with world renowned pelvic and sexual reconstruction surgeons Dr. Mickey Karram and Michael S. Baggish. Dr. Wu’s philosophy is that no one patient is the same. He believes that all intimate rejuvenation patients require a “tailored” or individualized approach. Below is a list of some of the many procedures Dr. Wu performs at ______.
Vaginal/Intimate Rejuvenation
This procedure covers the aesthetic appearance and pleasurable function of the outside and inside of the vagina. It may involve trimming of the labia minora to give a less “shaggy” look to it. The vaginal canal may also be tightened at the same time to close a “gaping” appearing opening or for improved sexual function/pleasure. Additionally vaginal dryness can be addressed with hormonal and non-hormonal medications/supplements in addition to laser or RF therapy.
Labial Reduction or Labiaplasty
This is a procedure that reduces the size and appearance of the labia minor or “inner lips” of the vagina. There are multiple surgical approaches but Dr. Wu is known for inventing the safest more reliable labial reduction: the complete de-epithelialized and deep tissue sparing approach. This method spares underlying erectile tissue essential in maintaining urinary continence and periclitoral sensation and pleasure, whereas other approaches can leave permanent and visible scars with abnormal sensation. He has presented his innovative surgical method at several international conferences in Monaco
Vaginal Tightening
In this procedure the muscles on the back side of the vaginal wall are brought closer together. This helps close any “gaps” in the vaginal opening to give a more virginal appearance and can also help patients who suffer from chronic drying of the vaginal lining (from constant exposure to air). A beneficial effect from the surgery is also the improved tightness and sensation felt by both the patient and partner during intercourse. Many couples who are post vaginal delivery note increased laxity of the vagina. Alternatively some patients may have had complex tears or lacerations during child birth that lead to irregular healing of the vaginal walls making them weak or relaxed. Careful vaginal reconstruction and tightening can bring patients back to a previous state of function similar to pre- vaginal delivery status. Ideally prospective patients for this procedure should be are done with family planning.
Vaginal Re-moisturization
Today there are multiple energy modities (lasers), Radio Frequency energy and non-estrogen medicines to re-moisturize the vaginal lining. All too often we see patients that have a history of breast or ovarian cancer and cannot be on any estrogen or estrogen-like creams/lotions/pills. Dr. Wu is a world recognized innovator in this field and had developed RF technology and non-hormonal treatments for this particular problem.
G-spot Amplification
In some women the stimulation of the anterior vaginal wall can activate a small corpuscle of nerves near the base of the bladder. Augmenting this region can help some women achieve orgasm more readily. The augmentation may be done with temporary fillers such as Juvederm or permanent fillers such as autologous fat. The procedure takes 15 minutes under local anesthesia in the office.
Clitoral Hood Reduction
Some women have excess clitoral hood tissue which can interfere with access to the clitoris during sex. The hood can be surgically reduced to help expose the clitoris better when erect. Great care needs to be take during this procedure NOT to remove too much tissue as this can lead to chronic irritation to the clitoris.
Bladder/Vaginal Botox
Use of small botox injections under cystoscopy into the bladder muscle to relieve painful intercourse, bladder spasm or bladder pain. Vaginal botox is used of vaginismus or vaginal muscle spasms which can occur during intercourse making sex virtually impossible.
