Scar Revision
Scars can have a dramatic impact on both your physical appearance – and your self-esteem. Thankfully, you don’t have to live with unsightly marks on your skin forever. Through an advanced revision procedure with Dr. Farzaneh, you can dramatically minimize the appearance of your scar, restoring beautiful skin and renewed confidence.
What is Scar Revision?
Scar revision is a cosmetic procedure designed to minimize a scar’s appearance so it blends in with your surrounding skin tone and texture.
Types of Scars
Whether your scarring occurred due to trauma, surgery, acne or an accident, Dr. Farzaneh is able to dramatically reduce the appearance of virtually any type of scar, including:
Acne Scars
Scarring is unfortunately extremely common among former acne sufferers, causing deep indentations, scars that resemble enlarged pores and permanent discoloration.
Stretch Marks
Stretch marks are a form of scarring that occurs after pregnancy or significant weight loss or gain, creating unsightly stripes on the skin. Though they can occur anywhere, they commonly appear on the hips, thighs, abdomen, breasts and buttocks.
Keloid Scars
Keloid scars occur when the body produces an excessive amount of scar tissue in response to an injury, forming a hard, large growth. They tend to be bigger than the original wound and appear as a lumpy area of skin.
Contracture Scars
Following a second- or third-degree burn, the skin may respond by forming a contracture scar. When this occurs, the skin tightens and impairs its ability to move.
Hypertrophic Scars
Hypertrophic scars are similar to keloids in that they appear as red, raised scars. However, they do not extend beyond the original injury site as keloids do.

When you look in the mirror, the first thing you see won’t be your scar anymore – it will be your smooth and beautiful overall appearance.
Are You a Candidate for Scar Revision?
As with all of his cosmetic procedures, Dr. Farzaneh determines scar revision candidacy on an individual basis, following a thorough discussion of the patient’s cosmetic goals, concerns and desires. With that said, ideal scar revision candidates are generally:
- Bothered by scarring anywhere on the face and body.
- In good general health.
- Non-smokers.
- Realistic in their expectations of surgery.
- Without active acne or other skin diseases that still need to be treated.
While these general guidelines are helpful, please note that the only way to know for sure if you are a candidate for a scar revision procedure is to schedule a private consultation with Dr. Farzaneh today.
